This was the amazing, soulful Notre Dame that I had the joy to experience when I was in Paris a couple of months ago.
Have you been? It has an aura about it that I can’t quite describe.
So when I watched the cathedral go up in flames, and firefighters unable to control the blaze for 5 hours until the spire collapsed….I was in frozen in shock.
I mean…a building that has stood for 850 years, majestic, graceful and inviting…just catching on fire and collapsing between lunch & dinner time – one starts to ponder the fleeting nature of life.
Things we take for granted can fall apart. Like our health.
Choices we postpone may not exist in a few weeks. And leave us with regrets.
Like harmless compulsive eating turning into an eating disorder with 20% success rate, $30,000 in in-patient treatments and 50% of women also suffering from depression.
Like daily emotional eating turning into unstoppable binges non-stop every day until it feels like your life is being run by a monster and you have no control over it.
Like your kids learning from your eating habits and having to spend their life in a prison of food and their body, constantly judging and hating themselves.
Most women wait until things are so bad they can’t see a way out.
I once spoke to a 70-year old lady whose daughter didn’t want her living with them (and so put her in a senior living home) because she was afraid her kids would learn bad habits from her grandma. This lady was so heart-broken that she couldn’t be the fun awesome grandmom but then she also believed she couldn’t change – so she stayed stuck in depression and complaining.
She regretted it daily and wished she had gotten help sooner.
Are there things in your life you regret too?
Don’t let your health be one of them. Yes, an unhealthy relationship with food is one of the biggest health problems today – millions of women are suffering silently.
feeling powerless because food runs their life, and losing confidence as they feel less and less in-control
existing as a shell of themselves, and trying to come to terms with it – settling for mediocre when they dream of excellence
not living up to their own expectations of a great mom, wife or leader.
The worst part about this fire incident was that there were multiple warnings signs on needing to restore the structure for years. The government didn’t take it seriously, they said they didn’t have the funds and it was almost like they assumed it would never fall. They took it for granted.
Are you taking your health for granted too? Making food seem trivial? Wanting to focus on other “important” things in your life?
Is there anything more important than you showing up as the wife your husband said yes to? The playful, intimate and loving wife you once were and always wanted to be.
Is there anything more important than setting your kids up with the right habits, so they don’t have to suffer like you do?
Is there anything more important that you showing up in your life as your radiant kickass self, without a black cloud of food & body shame hanging over you?
Sign up for a free Breakthrough to Freedom session so we can at least sow the first seeds to stop the fire before the entire structure crumbles around you. It’s a chance for you to get clarity, and a game-plan to move forward even if you’re terrified of trying a new approach. Don’t worry – in our tribe, we don’t let you fail!
P.S. – we often don’t realize how important something is to us until it’s no longer there. Parisians were gathered on the streets singing Ave Maria as they watched their beloved Lady of Paris fall. Don’t wait until it’s too late. Don’t take food for granted. Take the chance while you still have it.
